Aug 22 - Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Response: I wish I had more money. As basic as it sounds, I have my reasoning. I feel like at this point in my life, I have been granted everything I could have ever wanted. I have a girlfriend who is just perfect for me in every way, only have 4 classes, get home from school at 11:45 AM, love my job, and just feel like life is perfect right now. The only thing that I wish I had more of is money. I've never been a greedy person or someone who would be corrupted by money, but I have always struggled with money in my family. Both my mom and dad are terrible at saving money and spending it, too. I'm the only one who knows how to properly budget my income and spending, but I just don't get paid enough at my job for the things that I want to buy for myself. I get paid $10 an hour and only work about 20 hours per week, which is around $170 every 2 weeks for my paycheck. I want to buy better guitar gear, like amps and cabinets for my sound, and better-sounding guitars with expensive pickups. I want to be able to spoil my girlfriend and buy her the things she could never have as a kid. I want to be able to help my mom pay off her debts and bills to just help around the household. But I can't do that with $170. I wish that I got paid around $1700 every 2 weeks, because then I could put a good amount of money into savings, and also be able to spend the money I want to spend for myself and others.

Summary: Today, we worked on our cultural poem and visual representation assignment.

Reflection: I feel like everyone always feels like there is something that is missing in their life. No matter what, we will never really be happy and will always want more. But I feel like I'm not that way.

Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

Nov 19 - As Celie’s world expands in these letters, she begins noticing new things about the people in her life. Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?
