Oct 21 - Describe your birth experience. What have your parents told you about the circumstances of your birth?

Response: My mother tells me this story every year on my birthday and cries without fail every time. I was born on May 10th, 2007, at Gwinnett Hospital around 1:00 pm. My mother had to have an emergency C-section because I was pretty sick from an infection that I had. The birth overall wasn't too bad for my mother and my dad, but my mom could tell something was wrong with me when her water broke in the bathtub, and the color was discolored and yellow. The infection I had left me in the NICU for 10 days straight, and my mom couldn't touch me or hold me until it was over. I was her first kid as well, so it was especially hard for her to wait those 10 days. According to her, I was the loudest baby in the whole hospital and would scream all day and night because I wanted my mother. One nurse had to pick me up and place me in another place at the NICU, and as she passed by my mom while I was screaming my head off, she whispered, "he's waking up all the other babies!!" I eventually went home with both my parents, and they still have the 3-hour video of all my family coming over when I got home from the hospital and holding me. I still watch the video occasionally, and I find it so cool that I am watching my 10-day-old self with all my family members.

Summary: Today, we read two poems called "Infant Sorrow" and "Infant Joy" by William Blake.

Reflection: Childbirth is a natural process that all humans have gone through throughout the history of mankind. It is a painful, scary, and long process, but it is also a beautiful celebration of creating life.

Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?
