Oct 22 - In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
Response: I couldn't think of a good response for "something good that has evil in it", but I do have one for "something evil that has good in it". I have hated insects for as long as I can remember, which I think most people do. Maybe I've just had bad experiences with them, but I always kill insects whenever I can. As I grew older, I started to see the true beauty of nature more often. My best examples are bees. I got stung by one when I was 7 or 8 years old, so I had a natural fear of them for a while. I think it was around 8th grade, but something had changed in me suddenly. I found every aspect of nature to be so beautiful. All the insects that would sting or bite me when I was younger have such beautiful patterns, shapes, faces, eyes, legs, and colors. All the animals that I would be afraid of, like dogs, make me feel a sense of deep love and understanding for them. My biggest weakness is animals, especially pets. I would cry harder for a dog or cat dying than for a human being dying. I don't have any reason for this either. All these predatory life forms that we humans look at with fear are all a part of nature and are all beautiful in their own ways. Even if their actions aren't "good" in our eyes, they are just doing what they have been programmed to do their entire life. That's what makes them beautiful.
Summary: Today, we worked on our one-pager.
Reflection: All things in life have beauty and purpose. Nothing in this world has been created for "nothing", because we always find a purpose for it in this world.
