Oct 9 - Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Response: A talk I had with my therapist recently really helped me figure out where I want to go in my life. I was talking to my therapist about the colleges I was considering, whether I would go to a college in Georgia or overseas with my girlfriend. My therapist pointed out that when I was talking about going to college overseas, I seemed unsure, upset, and disinterested in the entire idea of it. However, my therapist pointed out that when I was talking about going to Georgia State, my eyes seemed to light up at the idea of living out my college years there. I feel like her words in this conversation helped me realize what kind of future I want and to start making important decisions based on what my mind and my heart are telling me.

Summary: Today, we presented our characterization posters in class and hung them up. We also finished the Fences play.

Reflection: The Fences play has definitely had a lasting impact on me and my character because of the deep analysis and attention to detail we have been doing in class. I am grateful that I have been able to read a play about real-world scenarios with conflicting emotions and decisions.

Dec 2 - In Letters 46–50, Celie begins to see Albert more clearly—his flaws, his regrets, and the ways he changes when he is no longer in complete control of her. Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

Nov 19 - As Celie’s world expands in these letters, she begins noticing new things about the people in her life. Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?
