Nov 18 - These letters show how Celie learns from the people around her, even in small ways. Think of someone in your life who influences you in a positive, everyday way—a friend, relative, teacher, or teammate. Write about what you’ve learned from them and how their influence shows up in your daily life.

Response: I would say that my girlfriend is a person who influences me in a positive way every day. My family and I have never been good about getting to school on time. All my life, I have always been late to everything that I am supposed to attend. However, when I met this girl who is always on time for everything, never slacks off, and is always so many steps ahead of me, everything changed. Since we've been dating, I've started to get to things on time more often, like school, hangouts, dates, and stuff like that. School has always been a challenge for me to get there on time, even this year as well. However, comparing this year to 2 years ago (when I only went to school for 4 or 5 days out of the month of October). Now, I am terrified to be late to school, because my girlfriend will threaten me with not being able to see her that day if I am late to school. I think the fear of punishment from her is what gets me motivated, because she is scary when she gets mad. So yes, my girlfriend does influence me in my daily life by helping me improve on little everyday things.

Summary: Today, we used Writeable to read letters 22-24 and answered discussion questions.

Reflection: The people in our lives who influence us in a positive way every day are the ones we should keep closest to us at all times.

Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?
