Nov 5 - After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles.

Response: After reading the first chapter, it was like I was hit by a train. The use of vulgar and raw language, the violence, the struggles, all of it was just so shocking to me. I had no idea that this was what the book was about. I can't even imagine what the next few chapters are going to look like.

Summary: Today, we read the first 5 letters of The Color Purple

Reflection: I feel like this book is going to make me feel very uncomfortable in class to read, but it will be good for my education.
