Dec 1 - Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

Response: The most memorable moment that I had over the break was on Thanksgiving morning, when I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my mom, sister, and girlfriend. We had all just watched the new season of Stranger Things the previous night, and we all woke up in the morning to watch the parade. This has been a tradition in our family since my mom was a kid, so it was really special to have my girlfriend there watching with us. I've always dreamed of having a family one day, so it was nice to have a little look into what my future might look like if I do end up starting one with this girl.

Summary: Today, we read letters in The Color Purple.

Reflection: Thanksgiving break is such a nice way to relax from the school year, but once it's over, it can be hard to start up the routine again. At least we have memories of how great it was, though!

Response: My mother tells me this story every year on my birthday and cries without fail every time. I was born on May 10th, 2007, at Gwinnett Hospital around 1:00 pm. My mother had to have an emergency C-section because I was pretty sick from an infection that I had. The birth overall wasn't too bad for my mother and my dad, but my mom could tell something was wrong with me when her water broke in the bathtub, and the color was discolored and yellow. The infection I had left me in the NICU for 10 days straight, and my mom couldn't touch me or hold me until it was over. I was her first kid as well, so it was especially hard for her to wait those 10 days. Sep 3 - Think about a moment when you challenged your parent(s)’ rules or expectations. How did you feel, and what was the outcome?

Response: The first thing I will say is that neither of my parents are strict in the slightest. I don't know any other kid who has this amount of freedom, but also love from their parents like my sister and I do. I'm allowed to stay out late (most days), I can have my girlfriend over whenever and wherever I want, I have free use of the car at all times, and ever since I turned 10, I have never had a bedtime. They're the type of parents to let me do as I please, as long as I am doing good in school and can stay responsible with the amount of freedom they give me. But even when I am slipping very badly in school (like last year and the year before), I've learned that they don't really care all too much if I am irresponsible with my choices and freedom. Oct 9 - Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Response: A talk I had with my therapist recently really helped me figure out where I want to go in my life. I was talking to my therapist about the colleges I was considering, whether I would go to a college in Georgia or overseas with my girlfriend. My therapist pointed out that when I was talking about going to college overseas, I seemed unsure, upset, and disinterested in the entire idea of it. However, my therapist pointed out that when I was talking about going to Georgia State, my eyes seemed to light up at the idea of living out my college years there. I feel like her words in this conversation helped me realize what kind of future I want and to start making important decisions based on what my mind and  my heart are telling me.
