Dec 9 - Write about a song that brings back a specific memory.

Response: A song that brings back a specific memory would have to be One by Metallica. This song has been with me throughout all of my life, and every time I hear it, I see a bunch of different memories and time periods of when I listened to it. The earliest memory I have of this song is from playing Guitar Hero III, which was the last song in the game that I could never beat when I was younger. I remember just hovering over the song in the select menu to hear the specific part they chose in the song, which was right before the final chorus. Every time I hear that part, it reminds me of all the visuals, characters, and stage designs of Guitar Hero III. I picked back up the game around mid-2022, and it took a year of trying to train back up my skill to finally beat that song. The solo for that song also reminds me of all the times that I died at that part in the game, which, surprisingly, is a lot easier to play on a real guitar than Guitar Hero.

Summary: Today, we read The Color Purple.

Reflection: Music has a way of connecting with our souls in a really special way. The specific tone of all the instruments, and the way that a song was recorded and could never be replicated, has a way of bringing out so many emotions and memories in a really beautiful way. This is why music is so important and special to me.

Dec 2 - In Letters 46–50, Celie begins to see Albert more clearly—his flaws, his regrets, and the ways he changes when he is no longer in complete control of her. Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

Nov 19 - As Celie’s world expands in these letters, she begins noticing new things about the people in her life. Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?
