Jan 16 - Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Response: A time that I didn't feel like myself is when I stared in the mirror for too long. I've never been hard on myself for my looks all my life, until recently. Sometimes when I stare at my reflection for too long, I don't even recognize who I have become after all these years. When I look into my eyes, I remember all the different people that I used to be, and what became of myself after all these years. I can see the versions of myself lined up from oldest to youngest staring at each other like I am doing now, and wonder if my future self is looking at me too. Like Cheryl, it feels like every time I move a part of my face, a part of all my old selves slowly withers away inside. I'll look at old pictures of myself from the past years, and I can barely even recognize myself. I've never been good at holding onto memories from my past, so when I see these pictures of myself, I can't even remember what I was like back then. When I truly take a long look at myself in the mirror, I can see all the people that I used to be, the person I am now, and the person that I know I will eventually become soon. My reflection helps me see what I look like to other people physically, but what I look like on the inside doesn't match up at all to the outside. I hope that one day, those two versions of myself are able to join in harmony together, so I can feel like myself on the inside and the outside. When you look at yourself in the mirror, no matter what has happened in your life, no matter what will happen in your life, and no matter what you see in that mirror, it's important to remember that despite everything, it's still you.

Summary: Today, we read chapter 3 of Wild and answered discussion questions.

Reflection: Sometimes when we don't recognize ourselves, it is important to remember where we came from and how far we've come to get to this point.
