Jan 6 - In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).
Response: For the Christmas break, I spent my holidays resting and celebrating with my family and girlfriend. Every Christmas break, my mom's whole family gets together for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years day, and this year I got to bring my girlfriend to all 4 events. Another thing too is that my mom and I finally saved up enough money to buy the guitar amp that I have been begging for this entire school year, and it was absolutely worth the wait and the money. It is way louder and fuller-sounding than my previous 30 year old speaker, and I can absolutely take this amp to play in live shows! Honestly, I've never had a Christmas break that went so well.
Here are my four personal goals that I would like achieve this year.
1. The first goal I want to achieve this year is applying to 4-5 colleges. This goal is important to me so that I can ensure that I will have the future that I've always wanted. In order to do this, I will start working on simple assignments for my application one day at a time. For example, I will choose what I want my essay prompt to be by the end of today. I will focus on big assignments that I have to get done for my application by the end of every week, like scheduling my senior meeting with my counselor, finishing my essay, or getting a teacher recommendation. By January 31, 2026, I plan to have submitted these applications to 4-5 colleges.
2. The second goal I wish to achieve this year is to earn a 90 or above in all my classes. This goal is important to me because it will show my drive and determination to excel in classes that may seem difficult for me. In order to do this, I will acknowledge my weak points in specific classes. For example, in AP Precalc, my biggest weakness was the quizzes and tests we would take on Thursdays, because I hadn't studied for them over the course of the whole week, waiting until the last minute to study. Instead, I will make sure that I am taking the proper notes during the school day, and going back over those notes and the homework while I am at home or work. By the end of the school year, I plan to have a 90 or above in all my classes.
3. The third goal I wish to achieve this year is to limit my tardies and absences this school year. This goal is important to me because my family and I have struggled with this for all our lives, and I wish to start breaking this cycle of tardiness and absences. In order to do this, I will try to limit the days that I stay home from school due to mental illness to only 5 days this school year. I will try to limit my tardies in my first period class to only 15 tardies this school year. By the end of the school year, I hope to exempt from all of my finals by meeting the requirements because of the lessened amount of tardies and absences.
4. The fourth goal I wish to achieve this year is to play a live show with my band. This goal is important to me because I have always dreamed of playing on stage with a real band. In order to achieve this, I will make sure to schedule regular band practices every 2 weeks. I will take time to come up with potential songs and riffs that my band and I can use in our songs. I will attend more live shows with my band, hopefully making the proper connections to assure a spot in a future show. I will start preparing my outfits and amp settings for when the time hopefully comes that we play in a live show, often rehearsing what it would feel like to play on stage with a real crowd watching.
Summary: Today, we created four personal goals to acheive this year.
Reflection: The start of a new year can be the opportunity and start of you becoming a completely different person than you were last year. I made some other personal goals separate from the assignment for private matters, and I know that if I follow along with those goals, I will definetly become a different, better, and happier person by the end of the year.
