Feb 2 - Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

Response: Last Saturday (February 7), I finally went over to my dads house after 3 months to get my haircut. I had been wanting this haircut for a long time now, but I had just kept delaying it further and further because I continuously forgot and was too scared to ask (I also had the flu too). However, I finally was able to ask my stepmom (who is a professional hair dresser) to cut my obnoxiously long and overgrown bangs so people are able to see my face. At the beginning of this school year, I would hide my face behind my long hair because I just didn't like the way that I looked. Eventually, my bangs grew so long that I couldn't see at all anymore and needed it cut. This wasn't the only reason I got it cut though. For the first time in my life, I actually wanted people to see my face. I think mostly has to do with my recent makeup hobby which has given me the confidence to cut my bangs. When I looked at myself in the mirror after the haircut, it was exactly what and who I wanted to see looking back at me, and I couldn't be happier. I feel like I am finally able to express who I really am to everyone around me. This moment felt like a turning point in my life because this was the beginning of the drastic changes I am excitedly going to make to my appearance and identity. It feels like it's the beginning of a new and powerful chapter of my life, and I can't wait.

Summary: Today, we read chapter 9 of Wild.

Reflection: Opening a new chapter in your life is one of the best ways to create a new identity for yourself. All the new people you meet will only know the new version of yourself, and it can feel really validating and relieving that nobody knows the old you.

Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?
